Lee’s Criteria for Model Tuning

Operators use multiple propagation models for predicting cellular coverage at various frequency ranges. These propagation models need to be tuned for different types of coverage areas and vary by urban/suburban and rural areas. To tune these models, they need to do field data collection to report the actual propagation of signals at required frequencies and then use this field collected data to tune their propagation models.

Lee’s criteria states that during data collection, at least 50 samples need to be collected over 40 wavelengths (40λ), where λ is the wavelength of the frequency being tested. To meet Lee’s criteria for model tuning, high speed scanning receivers from PCTEL can be used.
